At this occasion The Slovenian President Borut Pahor opened the presidential palace to visitors and also a short event was held. During the festivities Pahor acknowledged the painfulness of that period in history when he said that the events left wounds that we are trying to heal now.

He further stressed that the independence referendum of 1990 was when "Slovenians achieved reconciliation par excellence in a non-intrusive way".

The main state celebration was held yesterday in Kranj with a speech by Dejan Židan, the Speaker of Slovenian National Assembly. He pointed out that also during current times we need to perceive resistance as a capability for survival, as self-esteem, as responsibility.
