The survey reveals that only 18% of EU citizens possess high financial literacy, while 64% have a moderate level and the remaining 18% have low financial literacy. It emphasizes the need for financial education among groups such as women, young people, individuals with lower income, and those with lower levels of education, who tend to have lower financial literacy.

European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union Mairead McGuinness emphasized the need for more to be done to improve the level of financial literacy in the EU.
