The Jewish community in Slovenia will celebrate Hanukkah today by ceremonially lighting candles. The traditional event will be held at the Jewish Culture Centre in Ljubljana. Hanukkah is also known as the festival of lights or the feast of dedication. It is celebrated with the lighting of eight candles on the Menorah. According to the Jewish Culture Centre the Jewish community in Slovenia numbers a few hundred people, however, only 28 Slovenians reported they were Jewish in the 2002 census.
