In Ljubljana, the day was marked by the traditional spring cleaning campaign For a More Beautiful Ljubljana or Za lepšo Ljubljano in slovenian. The main event of the campaign is the traditional cleaning of the Ljubljanica River from Špica to the Dragon’s Bridge. Accompanying cultural activities are taking place along the Ljubljanica River and in the city centre during the day today. Those who passed by the cleaning campaign also received flowers as a token of appreciation for their concern for a clean environment.

The campaign traditionally starts on the 22nd March, World Water Day and ends on World Earth Day.
