Today, the MEPs will vote on the resolution, dubbed 'Threats to media freedom and journalists' security in Europe.' According to the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly, there is no true democracy without the right to freedom of expression, and free, independent and pluralistic media. There are reports of numerous threats to media freedom including harassment and attacks aimed at journalists.

In a separate debate, MEPs will discuss allegations of Hungary’s media interference in Slovenia and Northern Macedonia.
