The European Commission says there's no room for anti-Semitism in the EU, and that social networks are no place for personal attacks. This comes as the EU wraps us a three-day fact-finding mission on the rule of law and media freedom in Slovenia, and tweets by PM Janez Janša during their visit.
PM Janez Janša is facing heavy criticism after tweeting that many members of the European Parliament are puppets of billionaire and philanthropist George Soros. With the tweet he posted an image of 13 puppets in the European Parliament, including the head of the fact-finding mission, Sophie in 't Veld, with whom he refused to meet. Janša has since deleted the tweet.
At the end of its visit, the European delegation said it was surprised by the tone of public debate, climate of distrust, and polarization in Slovenia.
