The first annual International Mediterranean Day was celebrated today. The day was proclaimed by the Union of Foreign Ministers last November.
It was backed unanimously by all of the EU's 42 member states.
Slovenia's Foreign Minister Anže Logar said that he hoped that the Mediterranean would become an area of stability, security, progress and prosperity.
He also expressed his hope that the youth of the region would have a bright future.
