Heavy rain showers and storms, accompanied with strong winds and hail, hit parts of Slovenia yesterday. The most affected was central Slovenia, especially the wider Celje area, as well as parts of the Koroška, Dolenjska and Zasavje regions. The hailstorms damaged cars, buildings and crops. The hail also badly damaged the roof of the Mokronog primary school, where half of the children stayed at home today. A firefighter was injured while trying to repair a roof in Šmarješke Toplice. Meanwhile water flooded parts of the Slovenj Gradec hospital, including one of the surgery rooms and the pharmacy. Air traffic at Ljubljana's airport was also disrupted for a couple of hours yesterday because of the storm.
