The Metelkova alternative culture centre in Ljubljana kicks off events today marking its 30th anniversary. Exhibitions, concerts, and workshops will celebrate Metelkova's 30 years from today until Sunday. The main celebration will be held on Saturday with a picnic and a "Dance the Night Away" dance event. The celebration marks 30 years since the former military barracks were occupied by artists and autonomous groups, creating what is known today as Metelkova. Today the location in central Ljubljana features eight club venues, five galleries, and a hostel.
