Slovenian police officers are staging a token strike today.

One of the two unions in the force, The Trade Union of Police Officers, claims the government failed to implement commitments made in late-2018 that had ended a protracted strike. The union wants higher pay and higher bonuses for night shifts, Sundays and holidays as well as improvements regarding promotion opportunities.

The strike, which began at 8 AM, is expected to end at noon. During it, police will conduct thorough checks of all vehicles at the Gruškovje and Obrežje border crossings.
