Slovenian researchers from the National Institute of Biology have developed a test for detecting a specific strain of phytoplasma that causes a grapevine disease in vineyards. The disease is rampant in vineyards in South Africa especially. However, it is present around the world.
Once infected, there is no cure and the plants must be destroyed. Thus, identifying the disease quickly is essential.
