In a shocking upset, Slovenia defeated Russia in the European volleyball championships in Ljubljana yesterday. More than 11,000 fans gathered in the Stožice arena to watch the match. In an earlier match, Russia had defeated Slovenia in straight sets. This time the result was different and the defending European champions were knocked out of the tournament.
Slovenia now has little time to celebrate. Up next will be a semi-final showdown with the current world champions, Poland.
