Slovenia is formally beginning a two-year run as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
The 15-member Security Council is the UN's most important body for deciding on international peace and security.
It has five permanent members (the US, China, Russia, the UK and France) and ten are elected for two-year terms. Slovenia has launched a special website that will bring up-to-date information on current developments in the Security Council and Slovenia's activities there.
