The Slovenian women's handball team had a dream start to its World Cup campaign, beating the Netherlands with 32:26. Tjaša Stanko was Slovenia's top scorer with 12 goals and was also declared player of the match. At the World Cup in Japan, Slovenia's next opponent will be Norway. Also in Group A are Serbia, Cuba and Angola. Only the first three teams of each group will qualify for the next stage.
