A consortium featuring a Slovenian company has won a tender to build a road in the Croatian port city of Rijeka. The road will stretch over 3 kilometers of very difficult terrain, making it the most expensive road in the country. It’s estimated it will cost at least 60 million euros.
It will run almost exclusively through tunnels and underpasses, including under a residential area.
Eighty-five percent of the funds will come from the EU's Regional Development Fund.
