A Slovenian referee has been declared the world’s best football referee.
Slovenian Damir Skomina was named the world’s best referee by the . He was picked by football experts from 90 countries. Skomina has been a FIFA listed referee since 2003. He said the important thing for being a referee was having a “strong” character, something he said also helps people in their private lives as well.
Skomina was the first Slovenian referee to officiate a UEFA Champions League final.
He has so far officiated more than 530 matches, including Champions League and European League matches.
