Today is a national and public holiday, with most businesses closed for the day.

The roads were busy, as is the norm for 1st November.

Many people also visited graveyards yesterday. Some cemeteries offered free transport to and from certain designated areas to cemetery entrances, in order to reduce congestion.

President Nataša Pirc Musar laid a wreath at a special ceremony held at the Memorial to the Victims of All Wars in Ljubljana.

At a ceremony in Sveti Urh, Slovenia's first president, Milan Kučan, said that war was the worst thing that could be caused by man.

Maribor's mayor, Saša Arsenovič, attended a special ceremony at the Partisan cemetery in the Pobrežje cemetery.
