Measurements of the glacier below Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav, show a precipitous decline in ice. Officials said it thinned and has split into two parts. The Triglav glacier is one of just two glaciers in the country.
The two patches of ice on Triglav combined measured less than 0.2 hectares, which is the smallest area ever measured.
An analysis showed that the ice of the Triglav glacier was around 300 years old at its deepest point.
