In 1940, in Mexico City the Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky, one of the leaders of the October Revolution, is murdered.
In 2000, the Slovenian swimmer Martin Strel set a record, and found a place in Guinness Book of World Records. Under the motto 'For peace, friendship and clean water', he swam the 2,900 km long Danube, from its source to its mouth in the Black Sea.

Leta 1609 je Galilelo Galilei v Benetkah predstavil svoj prvi teleskop.
Leta 1780 se je rodil slovenski jezikoslovec Jernej Kopitar.
Leta 1847 so v Rogaški Slatini odprli novo zdraviliško dvorano. Na koncertu je nastopil slavni madžarski pianist in skladatelj Franc Liszt.
Leta 1911 je nek natakar iz pariškega muzeja Louvre ukradel Da Vincijevo sliko Mona Liza. Našli so jo dve leti pozneje in jo vrnili v muzej.
