In 1905 French author Jules Verne dies. Among other stories he also wrote Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea. In his works he described numerous technical achievements, which at that time seemed utopian, but today are part of everyday life.
In 1945 the Germans discovered and attacked Hospital Franja, which was one of the biggest and best equipped partizan hospitals in Slovenia.

Leta 1835 se je v Sv. Petru pri Celovcu rodil fizik Jožef Stefan. Po njem se imenuje vodilni raziskovalni inštitut v Ljubljani.
Leta 1874 se je rodil iluzionist Harry Houdini, znan po pobegih iz nemogočih situacij.
