Slovenia's motorway company DARS has secured a 90 million euro loan for the construction of a second tube of the Karavnek tunnel.
DARS secured the 22-year loan from the European Investment Bank.
Construction is expected to finally start in March. This comes after long delays in the bidding process, which was eventually won by a Turkish company. It will be 3.5 kilometers long.
The Austrian section is almost a kilometre longer. However, construction on the Austrian side has been going on for over a year.
