Today, we celebrate in Slovenia Sovereignty Day. It is one of the key events of the process of independence.

The public holiday, which is not a work-free day, was declared by the National Assembly in 2015.
The stated purpose of the holiday is to stress and emphasise the importance of Slovenia's sovereignty and to strengthen the respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
There will be no formal ceremony this year, but President Borut Pahor will have an address to the nation from the presidential palace.
