The Slovenian Potica, a traditional cake, has now been protected at an EU level. The cake will have the Traditional Specialties Guaranteed label, meaning cakes sold as Slovenian Potica will need to be certified for their shape and recipe, while not geographically limited to Slovenia. The official Slovenska Potica is now considered a pastry with can only have one of the five different fillings: walnuts, walnuts and raisins, raisins, tarragon, or tarragon and cottage cheese. In order to carry the label, it must also be baked in a round baking pan with a hole in the middle.
