Since Apollo ended, no human has ventured more than a few hundred kilometers off the surface of Earth, but humanity has launched many robotic missions.

The anniversary will be marked by different events in Slovenia today.

At the Noordung Centre in Vitanje, stargazing on its roof will start off with a lecture about the Moon followed by a presentation of the technical features of the Apollo 11 mission and an examination on whether it nowadays makes sense to send manned missions to the Moon and other celestial bodies instead of unmanned probes. The Technical Museum in Bistra will meanwhile offer a number of hands-on experiments for children as well as a lecture about the surface of the Moon and meteorites, also intended for children.
