In 1934 Bonnie and Clyde, who are still considered the most famous criminal couple of all time, die.

In 1941 the Slovene composer, master of orchestral and chamber music Slavko Osterc dies.

In 1951 the Russian chess player Anatolij Jevgenjevič Karpov is born.

Slovenian basketball player and coach Ivo Daneu played 209 games for Yugoslavia national team from 1956 to 1970, winning World Championship in 1970 on this day.

In 1994 Pulp Fiction won the Golden Palm for best film at the 47th Cannes Film Festival.

In 2012 engineer Eugene Polley dies. He is most widely known for inventing the first wireless remote control for television.

1970 - The album 'Let It Be' by The Beatles is at the top of the British charts, on it are 'The Long And Winding Road', 'Across The Universe' and ‘Let it be’.

1987 - Swing Out Sister are at the top spot on the British charts with 'It's Better To Travel'.

2010 - The Rolling Stones score their first UK No. 1 album for 16 years with the re-release of their classic 1972 double LP 'Exile On Main Street'.

Leta 1906 je umrl norveški dramatik Henrik Ibsen. Njegova najpomembnejša dela so Nora, Strahovi, Sovražnik ljudstva, Gospa z morja.

Leta 1934 sta umrla Bonnie in Clyde, najslavnejši zločinski par vseh časov.

Leta 1937 je umrl slovenski literarni zgodovinar in prevajalec Ivan Prijatelj.

Leta 1941 je umrl slovenski skladatelj Slavko Osterc. Leta 1951 se je rodil ruski šahist Anatolij Jevgenjevič Karpov.

Leta 1970 je jugoslovanska košarkarska reprezentanca pod taktirko Iva Daneua v Ljubljani postala svetovni prvak. V hali Tivoli je s 70:63 premagala ZDA.

Leta 1994 je film Šund na filmskem festivalu v Cannesu prejel zlato palmo za najboljši film.

Leta 1997 je alpinist Pavle Kozjek postal prvi Slovenec, ki je brez kisika osvojil najvišji vrh sveta Mount Everest.

Leta 2012 je umrl Američan Eugene Polley, ki je leta 1955 izumil daljinski upravljalnik za televizijo.
