Leta 1701 se je rodil švedski astronom Andres Celsius, ki je leta 1742 pripravil načrt za prvi termometer.

Leta 1865 se je rodil Janez Evangelist Krek, začetnik krščanskega gibanja v Sloveniji.

Leta 1895 je umrl francoski pisatelj, začetnik francoskega realizma Alexandre Dumas ml. Napisal je romana Dama s kamelijami in Črni tulipan.
