Rober Sušanj of the Police Administration said that the A2 motorway will be closed between the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport and the exit Hrušica in the early afternoon. In the late afternoon, the A2 motorway will also shut between Naklo and Šentvid as well as Žale. The Karavanke tunnel will be closed before 11 AM. Moreover, the Vršič mountain pass will be partly closed to traffic on Friday evening. According to Chief Police Inspector Boštjan Smolej, it is impossible to predict which roads will be closed and when – especially if delays occur. However, he believes that the A2 motorway will be reopened to traffic in the evening at the latest.

Drivers travelling to NW Slovenia are advised to set off in the morning, and the same applies to those travelling to Ljubljana.

Tourists travelling through Slovenia have been advised to take alternative routes. Traffic is expected to be congested around the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, so all air passengers are advised to set off for the airport earlier than usual.
