The director of the agricultural cooperative Vipava Boris Bajc listed some of the reasons as to why this is so. He said the first one is the price, second diseases and third is the disadvantage of the sector. He says it is known, the fruit farmers do not receive any direct financial means from the state.

Bajc added, that we cannot actually speak of the cutting down of the plantations, but more about fruit farmers not rebuilding and restoring the already existing plantations.

There are approximately 200 to 250 hectares of peach plantations in the Vipavska valley.
