The holliday is tomorrow, but celebrations were held today, led by Minister Alenka Bratušek. At the event, prepared by the municipalities of Primorje it was said numerous times, that these days also mark the 70th anniversary of several other events in history: the establishment of the transmarine brigade, the ninth corps and the beginnings of the partisan educational system.

These were crucial in the fight against the occupation during the Second World War and in the incorporation of the Primorska region to Slovenia.

On the 15. September in 1947, because of the Paris peace treaty, the majority of the Primorje region that was attached to Italy after the First World War with the Rapallo treaty, was given to the former Yugoslavia. Bratušek reminded, that despite the Paris treaty, 140 000 Slovenes stayed outside the borders
