Numerous new parties are emerging as a response to the wish for new faces in the Slovenian and European political space. They are, however, having a hard time convincing enough voters in order to exceed the parliamentary threshold.

Among these unconventional parties all over Europe the pirate parties might have the best chances for success, as they do not care for a traditional left-right division but devote themselves to modern problems of the digital age. Pirate parties all over Europe are united in the endeavour for more democracy, protection of human rights, reform of patent legislation and free exchange of information as well as a wish for greater privacy.

5. November will mark the anniversary of the formal registration of the Slovenian Pirate Party. They started their first activities in preparation for the May 2014European elections this fall. The president of the Slovenian Pirate Party says that interest for the pirate party is increasing and that they are noting an increase of activity on their web page.
