"Energy, sugestiveness, dedication, articulateness, humour, full-bloodedness, creativity, subtlety, shockingness…," were the most frequently used words for describing the acting of this year's winner of the Borštnik ring Ljerka Belak. Foto: BoBo

Hedda Gabler and its staging represent an actual, refined presentation of petty bourgeoisie in aquarium manner, along with its problems which are so very characteristic of present times.

The expert jury composed by Zala Dobovšek (Chairman), Krištof Jacek Kozak, Nina Mitrović, Katja Perat and Mikko Roiha supported their decision by writing that "the performance is radiating excellence on several levels: from ultimately refined text, efficient restrictive scenography, subtle costume design to ascetic, yet convincing acting. In this way the staging of the play evolves as a laboratory of emotions, allowing us to follow the microscopic focusing on details. It turns out that on the outside frozen surface is hiding red-hot emotions, exposed to strong, almost tectonic pressures, approaching the limit."
Hedda Gabler also received the Boštnik Award for dramaturgical concept, credit for which goes to Goran Ferčec, Mateja Koležnik and Metka Damjan.

Yulia Roschina won the award for best director for Madame Bovary performed by SNG Nova Gorica; the jury agreed on the winner with a majority of votes.
The jury gave this year's Borštnik Award to the ensemble for the collective acting in The Iliad; the performance was a joined project of Ljubljana City Theatre, Slovenian National Theatre Drama Ljubljana and Cankar Hall.
The award for best actor went to Jernej Šugman as Emir in Yugoslavia, my Country (Slovene National Theatre Drama Ljubljana), Polona Juh as Frieda in The Castle (Slovene National Theatre Drama Ljubljana), Nataša Matjašec Rošker as Hedda Gabler (Slovene National Theatre Drama Maribor) and Jetta Ostan Vejrup as Hera in The Iliad (Ljubljana City Theatre, Slovenian National Theatre Drama Ljubljana and Cankar Hall).
