The annual Kresnik prize for the best Slovenian novel will be awarded this evening.

The prize, which is given by the newspaper Delo, will be presented at Rožnik hill, with the winner having the honour of lighting a traditional bonfire.

In the running this year are novels by the multi-Kresnik winner Drago Jančar (pictured above), and the writers Štefan Kardoš, Sarival Sosič and Florjan Lipuš.
