The 24th Winter Olympic Games were officially opened today with a lavish ceremony in Beijing. Around 3,000 performers took part in the opening ceremony, alongside thousands of athletes from countries around the world.
Slovenia’s flag was carried by skier Ilka Štuhec and snowboarder Rok Marguč.
Beijing is the first city to host both a summer and winter Olympics.
Slovenia has 43 athletes competing at these Olympic Games. The first Slovenian athletes will start competing tomorrow.
