A fire broke out yesterday evening at Ekol, a hazardous waste processing company in the area of Kranj in north-western Slovenia.

According to authorities, it has not polluted the air or water. It has, however, upset the locals, who have for years been warning about the hazard the Laze industrial zone poses to the environment and public health. 30 workers who were in the industrial zone when the fire started were evacuated. Nobody was injured. The fire was soon put out by more than 100 firefighters.
