Primary schools around Slovenia today received almost 180,000 children, 4000 more than last year. Secondary schools opened their doors to about 74,000 students. Slovenian kindergartens meanwhile welcomed around 85,000 children.
About 22,000 six- and seven-year olds went to the first grade of primary school for the first time today, around 300 less compared to last year. A novelty this year will be that parents of first-graders will be relieved of school book costs. Pupils will namely be receiving all their books free of charge.
