This year’s topic is to tackle human attitude and behaviour about plastics and catalysing a significant reduction in plastic pollution.

Although the awareness is rising, still 8 million tons of plastics end in nature each year. Especially problematic is the pollution of oceans with plastic.

The production of plastics should increase by three times till 2025.

Another beacon of hope for tackling this problem is a new enzyme which was discovered recently by American and British scientists.

According to statistics the amount of disposed plastics in Slovenia has decreased in 2016 by almost 20 percent in comparison to 2015.
