Slovenia's Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon has been lobbying for Slovenia's candidacy for a seat at the UN Security Council in New York. Earlier she addressed the 11th emergency session of the UN General Assembly, dealing with the situation in Ukraine.
Slovenia has the support of European and Western countries ahead of the vote for the non-permanent UN Security Council seat for the 2024-2025 period. The vote in the UN will be held in June. Slovenia's rival for the non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council is Belarus.
