For the second year in a row, frost has caused massive damage to crops in the country.

Officials are still trying to assess how much damage was done. On Thursday and Friday, temperatures dipped to as low as -6 degrees in places, destroying fruit trees, grapes and even field crops.

Early estimates are that 90% of the country’s fruit crop was damaged, which would mean 50 to 60 million euros in damages.

Beekeepers also said that honey production could be a third lower than normal since the frost destroyed blooming acacia trees- a crucial early food source for bees.
