She announced the move two days ago, citing political pressure on staffing decisions in the police force and the failure to have the government appoint acting Police Commissioner Boštjan Lindav for a full term. Bobnar said she suspects this is because someone from the prime minister's circle had a grudge against him.

Prime minister Robert Golob has denied any pressure and said he will accept her resignation due to a loss of trust.

Bobnar also announced earlier this week that she would report the political pressure to the prosecution.
