Two Italian teenage cave explorers were rescued from the Golokratna cave just across the border from Italy near Sežana by Slovenian cave rescuers yesterday.
The youths, aged 17 and 15, were unharmed but exhausted and hypothermic after spending several hours suspended on a rope. The duo had descended into the 80-meter-deep cave but couldn't reach the bottom as they had insufficient rope, prompting them to call for help.
Rescuers noted that the teens were fortunate to have a mobile signal at that depth, enabling them to call for assistance.
A new cycling route linking the town of Žalec and the city of Celje will be completed by the end of June, according to the Municipality of Žalec.
