The Slovenian Journalist Association and public broadcaster RTV Slovenija have condemned an incident that occurred during Friday's protest rally in the town of Izola and expressed concern regarding increasing violence towards journalists. In the incident, a man verbally attacked whistleblower Ivan Gale while he was being interviewed by a TV Slovenija reporter. As the verbal abuse escalated, the man grabbed Gale and the TV Slovenia reporter. The scuffle was broken up shortly after by bystanders. The Slovenian Journalist Association as well as journalists and the leadership of RTV Slovenia issued a condemnation, highlighting that these kinds of violent attacks are limiting democracy and promoting hate speech.
