A new rail section between Maribor and the border with Austria was opened for traffic yesterday.
A 1.5 km long tunnel was constructed together with the Pesnica viaduct, the longest railway viaduct in the country.
Trains will now travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h, instead of 80 km/h.
The previous tunnel and viaduct were built in 1846.
