Slovenian PM Robert Golob is in Vienna today for his first official visit to Austria since taking office. He held talks with his Austrian counterpart Karl Nehammer and the country's Speaker of Parliament Wolfgang Sobotka. From Vienna PM Golob criticized Austria’s border control. Although both countries are members of the travel-free Schengen zone, Austria has maintained border patrols at its checkpoints with Slovenia ever since the 2015 migrant crisis.
PM Golob said the border control was unjustified and inefficient.
Touching on the Slovenian minority in Austria, PM Golob called for the reintroduction of Slovenian in kindergartens in the Carinthia region.
Talks also focused on the Western Balkans and the war in Ukraine.
