Slovenia's main contenders for the Tour de France title, defending champion Tadej Pogačar and last year's runner up, Primož Roglič, finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively on Stage 2 today in Brittany.

The stage, which finished on the infamous climb of the Mur-de-Bretagne, was won by Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel. He also took over the race leader's yellow jersey from home favourite Julian Alaphilippe.

The race moves on to Lorient tomorrow for a relatively flat 183 km stage which should suit the sprinters.
