The trade union of journalists at RTV Slovenia is staging a strike today demanding journalistic, editorial, and institutional autonomy, changes to staffing policies, and a raise in the lowest wages. The strike started at 2pm and will last until 11pm. Journalists also staged a one-hour walkout between 2pm and 3pm, and a rally at the Republic Square in Ljubljana is scheduled for 7pm.

Earlier the RTV SLO leadership called for the strike to be canceled. It also ordered today's central news program to be shortened to only 5 minutes, and canceled today's current affairs show Tednik, because of the strike.
