Benjamin Savšek narrowly missed out on a medal at the Canoe World Championships in Augsburg, Germany today.

He was just four tenths of a second off the podium places.

Local favourite Sideris Tasiadis took gold ahead of Slovakia's Alexander Slavkovsky and another German, Franz Anton.

The women's final was also a good result for the local fans with Andrea Herzog of Germany taking top spot.

The silver and bronze medals went to Australia's Jessica Fox and Great Britain's Mallory Franklin, respectively.
