The number of commercial flights in Slovenia last year was 41% below the 2019 average. Compared to pre-pandemic levels, Slovenia's air connectivity lags behind the most from all of the EU members. The only country in the EU to see a higher number of flights compared to 2019 was Greece – up by 1%. Slovenia is at the bottom of the list with a 41% decrease in the number of flights.

Yesterday the Minister of Infrastructure, Alenka Bratušek, announced state subsidies for ten routes, to try increase the number of flights. The priority list includes ten destinations: Vienna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Athens, Madrid, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Prague, Berlin and Skopje. Over the next three years the government plans to earmark 17 million euros of state subsidies for new air links.
