Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec visited the gas terminal on the Croatian island of Krk today, where he held talks with his Croatian counterpart. The two discussed boosting energy links between both countries, aimed at reducing reliance on Russian gas. Minister Vrtovec said Slovenia was looking at ways to further diversify its energy sources and reduce its relliance on Russia. He said the terminal on the island of Krk could supply about 1/3 of the Slovenia gas needs.
Meanwhile in Zagreb the foreign ministers of Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy held talks about cooperation in the north Adriatic Sea. Slovenia's and Croatia's ministers also touched on the agreement for joint fishing in the border Bay of Piran. Croatia's foreign minister said cooperation between the two countries had never been better and stressed that efforts were being made to find a model that would suit both Slovenia's and Croatia's fishermen.
