They criticized a lack of action on the part of the government. They said the flawed housing policy, along with precarious and low-paying jobs, made it hard for young people to become independent, arguing that an average employed young person could no longer afford rent or to buy a normal apartment on their own. Student dorms in Slovenia provide accommodation to only 13% of students. At a least a third of students in Slovenia rent private homes, the prices of which increased drastically in the last year.
