Yesterday's draw by FIFA in Zürich, Switzerland determined the Slovenian men's football team will play in the qualifying group H for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar along with Croatia, Slovakia, Russia, Cyprus and Malta.

Croatia are the runners-up from the 2018 World Cup. Commenting on the draw, Slovenia's head coach Matjaž Kek said Slovenia is by no means the favorite in this group, but that the team will attempt to make use of any opportunities it gets.

32-teams qill be able to qualify for the tournament in Qatar. A total of 55 European national teams will be vying for the 13 spots reserved for Europe. The qualifiers will be held between March and November next year.
